In February 2015, Bundeena RSL burned down because of an electrical fire. Whitcon undertook a make-safe demolition and assisted the owners with insurance
negotiations. In August 2017, Whitcon commenced works on a base DA scheme on behalf of Bundeena RSL Memorial Club. At the same time, Bundeena RSL
Memorial Club was in negotiations with the Cabra Bowls Group to amalgamate the two clubs. By October 2017, the amalgamation was complete.
As a result of the amalgamation, the project was transformed into a larger S96 scheme. The $5 million S96 scheme included the integration of a new function kitchen, a new lift, and ground floor toilets (excavated under the existing club), as well as extending the first floor trading area. The project was delivered via a construction management contract, supervised by quantity surveyors Mitchell Brandtman, and designed by Bergstrom Architects.
